We Are: how 2 love

We Are is a trio based on Oslo consisting of Karl Hjalmar Nyberg on saxophones and keyboard, Aaron Mandelmann on double bass and Axel Skalstad on drums.

Despite their young age, Nyberg, Mandelmann og Skalstad have established themselves as acclaimed and important figures in the Norwegian jazz environment. They are known from projects and ensembles such as the Norwegian grammy nominee Megalodon Collective, Krokofant, Kalle and Trondheim Jazzorchestra.

Their different voices as performers and composers, gives «How 2 < 3» an eclectic character, shamelessly interchanging heart-wrenching «dansebandsaxophone» with progrock and free improvisation. Intuitive melodies are equated with complex rhytmic structures, the distinction between acoustic and electronic sounds are blurred, and results in a fresh and strong ensemble sound. The sum of these three artists make «How 2 <3» a playful album, inviting the listener to take part in the exploration and experimentation that is happening in the nordic jazz environment.
